Imagine a world where all exchanges of any kind, from the tree to the pencil, at every step, requires clearance from a lawyer.
Imagine a world where everything must be permanently and irreversibly discarded into the garbage after use.
Imagine a world where any act of charity to anyone in need is a felony.
Well, it’s on it’s way, and capitalism as we know it is about to change.
And not to socialism. Or communism. Or fascism. Or anarchism.
But to something never invented before.
This is a completely new economic system, unlike any in the history of the world – a frightening economic system, and just in time for Halloween.
Kirtsaeng v. John Wiley & Sons, Inc. will be argued at the Supreme Court on October 29, 2012. This is a copyright lawsuit which will decide whether used copyrighted goods manufactured in foreign countries can be exchanged in the United States.
Since the early 1900s, the courts have declared this legal for goods manufactured in the United States, and has made eBay, Amazon, recycling of toxic consumer products, and donations of food and clothing possible.
That was 100 years ago.
Now we are in the age of free trade, the Internet, and manufacturing overseas.
We are also in the age of the Hollywood Mafia, frivolous lawsuits, and the most anti-free-market-yet-pro-business Supreme Court in the history of the United States. Store-scouting ASCAP henchmen frequently tell their victims that ASCAP has never lost a lawsuit since the 1960s.
Two lower courts have ruled that allowing copyright holders to control any exchange of foreign-manufactured physical products is permissible. This Halloween, the Supreme Court will probably set it into stone.
And to top it off, Obama has dumped the Environazis and anti-free-traders for the Hollywood Mafia with his newly-filed brief.
Since 1989, almost everything is automatically copyrighted upon completion.
If the decision of both lower courts are upheld, the Supreme Court will be criminalizing, partially or fully:
1. Giving packaged food and “Made in China” clothing to the poor
2. Lending a friend a book or movie
3. Selling something “unapproved” at any point from the warehouse to the store
4. Soup kitchens
5. Recycling Chinese-made electronics containing lead and mercury
6. Religions that mandate tithing, such as Mormonism
…when the copyright holder disapproves.
As this would only apply to overseas manufacturing, more overseas manufacturing would be encouraged. Your children’s copyrighted Big Bird lunch boxes would definitely contain more Chinese lead.
This is a horrifying world where the only items to exchange hands are Federal Reserve Notes.
A world where both Christian charity and Earth worship are felonies.
A world where the Hollywood Mafia, Big Agribusiness, and Big Pharma no longer encourage us to be selfish, worldly, polluting, wasteful, and self-destructive – but force us by law to be that way.
Congress is completely crippled.
Even the President is merely giving his destructive opinion.
“Petitions to the President” float around the Internet, but in this case, they have no effect.
This is a brand new economic system.
And it is likely to begin on October 29, 2012, two days before Halloween.
The scariest Halloween in the history of the world is here to stay.
